Job responsibilities:

Qobo is seeking to recruit a back-end developer with the following responsibilities:

• Building and maintaining custom built, cutting edge applications
• Writing clean code that is clear and understandable by others
• Contributing to project specifications and estimations
• Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle
• Working closely with the creative team and front-end developers, as well as with clients
• Maintenance and debugging of back-end systems
• Troubleshooting and support and serve issues that come up
• Integrating back-end code into the existing front-end code

Job requirements:

• A University degree in computer science or related subject (candidates with equivalent work experience will also be considered)
• Commercial experience working with back end development
• Experience of modern source code management approaches and software development using open source technologies
• In-depth knowledge of working with an MVC framework such as CakePHP
• Knowledge of Web Services (SOAP, REST)
• Knowledge of other scripting languages (Perl, Python, Bash, etc)
• In-depth knowledge of Linux
• Experience with responsive design for desktop, tablet, mobile
• A good eye for user experience (UX)
• Open Source contributors (GitHub, BitBucket).
• A pro-active approach to the software development lifecycle
• Experience of working with MySQL 5+
• Experience of using Version Control systems such as Git as part of a team
• Experience of automated testing (preferably PHPUnit)
• Design patterns knowledge and practical experience implementing them
• Experience of Agile project methodologies and its impact on iterative design
• Experience of working in a continuous integration environment
• A good eye for detail and a passion for delivering the highest standard of work
